How to Unlock Every Playable Character

Most base roster characters unlock by defeating them in story mode. Saiyan Saga grants Goku, Vegeta, Raditz, Nappa, and Z-Fighters. Frieza Saga adds the Ginyu Force, Zarbon, Dodoria, and Frieza forms. Android Saga unlocks Cell line and Androids. Buu Saga adds Majin Buu variants, Gotenks, and Janemba. Battle of Gods and Resurrection F sagas unlock Beerus, Whis, Golden Frieza, and SSGSS presets.

Finish every story mission—skipping optional dialogues still counts, but you must trigger saga completions for roster pop-ups.

Ultimate Finish conditions are the primary blocker for completionists. Examples: PQ 81 Gogeta requires defeating all enemies quickly then Gogeta within time limit. PQ 91 Vegito demands Raditz and Nappa survival alongside Goku defeat triggers. Missing conditions by one ally death forces full restart—no partial credit.

Story unlocks are straightforward—PQ unlocks require checking community databases on All Characters page for numbered lists. Shenron characters need four full ball cycles with Namekian in party each time. Time Egg Unknown History unlocks Bardock and Future Gohan paths—collect all five eggs from Time Rift quest chains before expecting those fighters.

DLC ownership checks happen at download not purchase—verify install before blaming bugs. Preset character forms unlock separately from base character—100 percent roster includes many form variants. Raid gifts for raid bosses require active raid participation windows.
